The wreck of the U.S.S. Emmons (Day Trip)

The U.S.S. Emmons was an American warship that was hit by five kamikaze planes in April 1945 and later sank. She was discovered in 2001 and is now open to divers. It takes about 15 minutes by boat to get to the dive site.

The wreck of the Emmons lies off northern Okinawa, beyond Nago at Kouri Island. We are usually doing two dives at a minimum depth of 36 but maximum 45 meters. This dive is only open to experienced divers! If you like adventures and are interested in Okinawa’s World War II history, we strongly recommend this dive.

Cape Hedo (Day Trip)

Cape Hedo is the northernmost point on Okinawa. This is where the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean flow together. The water here is a crystal-clear blue, and there are great opportunities for drift and deep diving.

Hedo Dome,Okinawa

“Hedo Dome" After swimming for about 20 meters, you arrive at an absolutely amazing dome filled with air. The dome is about 10 meters high and looks like a prehistoric site, with many limestone stalactites. There are different layers formed by the saltwater and fresh water. These halocline layers of varying salinity can cause the water to look blurry where the layers come together.

Cape Hedo, Okinawa

When you look down from the observation deck at cape Hedo, you’re looking directly onto the dive site called Canyon. There are a number of huge rocks that have nice corals on top at a depth of 10 meters to 15 meters. There are also several canyons and swim-throughs and overhanging rocks. Here you have a good chance to see turtles, napoleon fish, rays, and white-tipped reef sharks. This is one of my favorite dives at Cape Hedo.

Kerama Islands (Day Trip)

Let’s cruise out to the Kerama Islands! They are a chain of beautiful, mostly uninhabited islands about a one-hour boat ride from the main island of Okinawa. In the summertime the water offers excellent visibility and you can see a thriving, colorful underwater ecosystem. There are more than 100 dive sites here, depending on the season and the weather. I promise you’ll never be bored!

In the winter you can enjoy whale-watching, with humpbacks migrating to Okinawa between November and March.
